GetMyUni puts forth an acquisition offer for learning startup Avagmah

The India-based education technology company GetMyUni has declared that it has taken over online learning firm Avagmah from AEON Learning. Acquired in an all-cash deal, Avagmah had raised around USD 5 million from Zodius Capital, MEMG (Manipal Group), Lionrock Capital, Atul Nishar and Kris Gopalakrishnan earlier, after which it merged with Acadgild and formed AEON Learning.

For the record, Avagmah is a full stack online program manager (OPM) and helps universities outsource their online programs. It has also worked with some of the best colleges and universities such as Pondicherry University, Alagappa University, Bharathidasan University, IIM Calcutta, NIT Kurukshetra, and IIM Ahmedabad.

GetMyUni was established in 2015 and is a Times Internet-backed edtech platform, renowned for helping students undertake their post K-12 learning journey. GetMyUni owns and operates online platforms along the likes of IELTS Material, The College Monk, and GetMyUni.

Upneet Grover, CEO & Founder of GetMyUni has been claimed to state that ever since the company’s inception, it has aimed to create impact at scale. The core business of acquiring students for universities across India and overseas has depicted an upsurge of 200 percent since 2019 and via this acquisition, the firm will be able to complete the value chain for its users by creating an impact on the content delivery part of the business, Grover added.

Grover also stated that the buyout will enable the company to follow its vision of making higher education accessible to one and all in India, sans the consideration of their financial position or the access to the conventional offline setup.

Through this acquisition, GetMyUni is now eligible to enter the online certification & degree-granting business. Incidentally, this space has witnessed commendable growth post the pandemic.

After the acquisition, GetMyUni will tap its current distribution of an annual user base of 40 million and 300+ university partners in order to enter the OPM space.
