With rising sales of electric vehicles, and the higher adoption of new technologies by the aerospace and automotive sectors, implementation of fiber lasers is witnessing significant growth recently. Global fiber laser manufacturers are increasingly working towards the creation of high energy laser fibers to keep up with evolving demands.

nLIGHT, Inc., a renowned US-based fiber laser producing company, reportedly announced the launch of two new fiber lasers, CFX-12000 and CFX-5000. These lasers are new additions to the company’s CoronaTM product family.

The Corona CFX-12000 provides 12kW output power, which makes it the highest power fiber laser inside the company’s Corona product portfolio. Meanwhile, the improved CFX-5000 fiber laser increases the speed of thin metal cutting by about 20% while conserving CO2 like quality for cutting of thick mild steel.

General Manager for industrial lasers at nLIGHT, Jake Bell stated that the productivity gains the company’s customers experience already through its high-power fiber lasers are substantial.

Bell added that as the company continues to expand the portfolio of its Corona products to 12kW output power as well as to higher brightness at much lower powers, it is enabling its consumers with truly differentiated technology.

The new nLIGHT Corona lasers offer unrivaled versatility since they adjust the shape and size of the output beam when at full power, all inside the fiber. Based on the requirements of their application, customers can further select from large diameter donut-shaped beams to small diameter top-hat beams without the complexity, cost, or reliability issues that are inherent to free-space optics.

Enterprise companies and job shops highly benefit from the cost and speed advantages of conventional fiber lasers along with the superior quality thick metal CO2 laser cutting.

The launch of these novel Corona fiber lasers maintains the company’s leading position in innovation of high-power lasers. nLIGHT’s Corona product family now features the CFX-8000, CFX-12000, CFX-5000 with improved performance, CFX-6000, CFX-3000, and CFX-4000.

Earlier in June, the company had launched the CFX-8000, 8kw fiber laser which became a valuable addition to the company’s Corona product family.
