Apple may bring back TouchID technology to next generation iPhones

According to reliable sources, American multinational technology giant Apple Inc. may reintroduce the popular TouchID technology in its next generation iPhones. The company has been seen conducting new surveys that seemingly hints its plans for the new iPhone 13.

Apple is known for taking revolutionary decisions such as removing the headphone jack as well as the TouchID from its phones. For those uninitiated, TouchID is a fingerprint sensor authentication technology that was introduced with the iPhone 5 and lasted until the iPhone X was launched with FaceID back in 2017.

The recent survey from Apple asked users questions regarding their experience with the current FaceID, a biometric authentication sensor technology. Allegedly, the questionnaire asked if the iPhone user had any privacy or security concerns using the FaceID. Users were also asked if they prefer TouchID over the existing FaceID.

While there is no confirmation that Apple would be bringing back the fingerprint authentication technology to its upcoming phones, it does fall in line with initial reports that stated the same.

Sources claimed that the TouchID sensor of the next-gen iPhone 13 will not be integrated under a screen bezel, instead would be placed under the display. The company has two iPhones under testing that are allegedly equipped with fingerprint sensor.

It is worth mentioning that numerous Android phones have been integrating fingerprint sensor technology under the screen. In this regard, rumors have it that Apple may incorporate a side-mounted TouchID, since it is already available with Apple’s iPad Air.

Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly introducing new privacy regulations which will require existing as well as upcoming apps to show privacy practices to users. The company hopes to bring transparency into the mobile apps and allow users to understand what data is being collected.
