Ola to take on Indian two-wheeler giants with its new electric scooter

With the rising number of electric vehicles, Ola’s new Electric scooter S1 has been launched in India’s nascent EV market, challenging prominent industry players like Bajaj Chetak Electric, TVS iQube, and the Ather 450X.

The Ola Future Factory based in Tamil Nadu has rolled out its maiden offering Electric S1 scooter at an ex-showroom price of USD 1346 and the S1 Pro version at USD 1750.

The Future Factory plans to produce 10 million units annually to establish and widen its grasp over the nation’s nascent yet competitive EV market.

Ola Electric S1 offers a plethora of features and is claimed to be one of the longest-ranged electric scooters in the Indian market, with a mileage of 181 km.

It also boasts of a best-in-class 0-40 kmph acceleration time of 3 seconds and can go up to 60 kmph in just 5 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 115 kmph.

Moreover, the EV facilities three riding modes, viz, Hyper, Sport, and Normal mode.

For charging, Ola S1 is fitted with a 3.9 kWh battery pack, that powers an electric motor having 8.5 kW peak power. The scooter can be charged within 6 hours using a 750 W portable charger, while an Ola Supercharger can charge it up to 50% in just 18 minutes.

The electric scooter includes a 7-inch touch-screen display, with connectivity options. It also hosts features such as a 50-liters boot, built-in speakers, cruise control, full LED lighting setup, reverse mode, and voice command.

Finally, commenting on the range of color options, Ola offers the S1 in ten colors including purple, red, blue, yellow, white, black, and others.

If reports are to be believed, Ola has received over 100,000 pre-bookings for the scooter within the initial 24 hours of opening bookings to buyers.
