Mercedes-Benz is set to be in the limelight at the IAA Auto Show 2021 in Munich, as the automaker is launching four new EV models this year. In addition, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB is reportedly being debuted in Europe and is poised to go global soon.
After the initial launch in April, the EV is set to be released in the United States next year in two variants, namely the EQB 350 and the EQB 300.
Notably, the Mercedes-Benz EQB is a compact all-electric SUV that has seven seats, with enough space to fit a child car seat in the third row, which has two seats.
Commenting on safety features, the automaker said that the EV comes with seat belts having force limiters and belt tensioners on all outer seats, retractable head restraints, and a side window bag aimed at covering passengers seated in the third row.
The company has assured that the interior of the compact SUV will be robust as its exterior. Various elements such as the air vents being embellished with rose-gold accents and the backlit trim piece will provide the EV with its renowned luxury character.
Furthermore, the vehicle will sport a classic EQ design feature, which is the continuous ambient light strip through the rear and front ends. The Mercedes logo will be installed on the EQ black panel grille, and the SUV will sit on 20-inch light-alloy wheels that may be available in blue or rosé gold hues.
Coming to performance, the Mercedes-Benz EQB boasts of a 66.5-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery which will provide a range of 419 km. While EQB 350 is claimed to generate a torque of 521 Nm and power of 288 hp, the EQB 300 will provide a peak torque of 390 Nm with 225 hp.
The EV will be powered by the latest version of the MBUX software. It will also include a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and infotainment display that will enable augmented-reality navigation.
